Chapter Meetings
NAPO Oregon holds their chapter meetings on the third Wednesday of each month from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. The meetings include multiple opportunities for professional development. Meeting content includes a program especially designed for the organizing industry, national and local business, member-supported book reviews, product reviews, case studies and networking opportunities. Program topics include an annual vendor fair, marketing, business planning, and more.

Continuing Education
NAPO Oregon supports the continuing education of its members. As NAPO launches its first certification program for Professional Organizers (April 2007), NAPO Oregon offers various educational opportunities through chapter membership including mentoring, a text and CD library, and informative program topics.

Member Directory
The Chapter directory located on the chapter website includes contact and specialty information for all members.

Personal and Professional Support
The one-on-one interaction that chapter activities provide creates opportunities to become acquainted and develop close friendships with professional colleagues who understand your profession. You can share tough organizing situations, review business goals, or simply offer moral support as our industry grows.

Networking Opportunities
For the professional organizer working out of the home or small office, networking is critical to your success. It also counters the issues of isolation! Networking with other qualified colleagues in your area is an excellent source for sharing client referrals, provides you with professional resources and strengthens the personal and professional support mentioned above.

Publicity
NAPO-Oregon participates in many activities that generate local media interest. The savvy professional organizer joins forces with their Chapter and takes advantage of those opportunities to generate exposure for the industry and business opportunities for themselves.

Leadership
There is numerous leadership opportunities available for members in NAPO Oregon. Perhaps you will serve as an an officer, director or committee chair. Your leadership skills will develop as you shape and lead our industry. This adds credibility to yourself and positions you for PR exposure.

Credibility with Clients
Membership and leadership in your professional association demonstrates to prospective clients that you take your profession seriously and are willing to participate in its development.

Website Participation
NAPO Oregon has a website frequently updated with relevant information for the public as well as the Professional Organizer. Each Chapter member has a page to promote their business. Each member listing includes the following:
  • Business Name and Contact Information, including a link to your email and/or website.
  • A color photo of you, if desired
  • Brief description of your business
  • Unlimited specialty listings
  • Service Area identification
CD Library
NAPO Oregon purchases the complete set of CDs from the annual NAPO conference. These CDs are available for check out. Learn about hundreds of topics from experienced organizers in the comfort of your own home!

Text Library
NAPO Oregon is building its own library of books which are also available for checkout. The books are meant to support the new professional organizer, as well as prepare the more seasoned organizer for the certification exam.

Buddy Program
The Buddy Program is designed to help new members ease their transition into the Chapter by matching them with a more seasoned organizer (the Buddy Leader) as a source for developing relationships and networking.

Donation Resource List
Professional organizers are regularly asked where to donate their items. The Chapter has available a comprehensive list of local donation resources including information about donating/discarding computer equipment, bulky items, toxic materials and more. This list is updated regularly and can provide your business with a valuable pool of donation locations and professional service providers.

Volunteer Opportunities
Barry Isaak, president of NAPO, has said that when you are involved in your association in a significant way, the business comes with it. (NAPO News August/September 2006). NAPO Oregon offers many opportunities for volunteer involvement. In fact, approximately 45-50% Of NAPO Oregon chapter members volunteer on some level. Volunteer opportunities are listed on the chapter website and are routinely announced at chapter meetings. Get involved and watch your business grow!

Go Month
Get Organized (GO!) Month takes place in January. Chapters throughout the country plan exciting GO Month projects to serve the public and increase awareness of NAPO and the professional organizing industry. In addition to gaining valuable work experience, GO Month is a great opportunity to build camaraderie with fellow organizers. NAPO Oregon has a team of volunteer organizers who make up the Go Month Task Force and plan and execute the annual project.

Quantum Leap
Quantum Leap is another voluntary program designed by NAPO and executed on a Chapter level. Professional organizers who volunteer for Quantum Leap projects present general organizing principles on money, paper and time management to populations who couldn’t otherwise afford it. Materials and curriculum are provided by NAPO. Quantum Leap is coordinated by a chapter volunteer organizer.
